BBB’s Notebook - WWE Raw 12/14/09 (Dennis Miller/Slammys)

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

raw3 hours? Slammys? God help us. Let’s go to the video tape….

-Dennis Miller. I sense disaster….

-Well, his “monologue was brutal…

-Oh for fucks sake… R-Truth, get it together!! Jillian!! Try and be less obvious!! Fuck!!

-Retain? Regain? Good job Show… But he does a great job in playing it off like a pro.

-Nice to see ECW get some play on Raw.

-I love how Kane and Khali can just forget about everything. Ah wrestling.

-Is it Breakout Star of the Year, or accent of the year??

-Damn the HD looks good.

-Wow, Cena made short work of Punk, but I guess that’s to be expected.

-Ok, this is why people hate ultra-babyface John Cena, but I’m quite sure this is by design.

-Nice, classy move by HHH. That was very cool.

-Thats it! A nice slow, long, several month build-up to HBK and ‘Taker at WM. That’s how its done. Nice job gentlemen. This will make for good TV… Unless they hot-shot it at the Rumble.

-I missed the Bob Barker Raw, looked like it was fun.

-Bret Hart name drop. And so it begins….

-The Jericho exit could have been done better.

-Sometimes you trip and fall into a stream filled with gold. Ask Chris Masters

-Hahaha!! Accepting on his behalf, Matt Hardy….

-Yoshi certainly comes out of that looking like gold….

-The Divas match was pointless but Nattie looked great.

-Tony Atlas laugh!!!

-A DX snuggie? I must admit I chuckled…

Happy Holiday and Stuff…

Well, another Christmas has come and gone and I have some mixed emotions about it. Working in retail really ruins Christmas for a guy but my actual Christmas day was pretty good.

The whole family was together and I was pretty spoiled when it comes to gifts. (Clothes, a ton of dvd’s, some cd’s and books and a new Sirius radio amongst other things.)

Boxing day was touch-and-go, we barely got shit set and ready to go before the store opened but we pulled through and I worked my shift and went home to relax. I was supposed to go for beers with Tex tonight but I totally crashed (sorry dude!!)

Anyway, I had more to write but as usual, when I sit down in front of this thing I totally go blank.

BBB’s Notebook - ECW on Global 12/12/09

ecw-Is Ezekial Jackson using the Brawl for All music? If so that’s tremendous.

-Come on Shelton, spit it out….

-Cool, haven’t seen Tommy in a while.

-Dreamers tumbleweed off the apron is brutal.

-The Ripper? Good god… Why not Ripper Machine.

-Bland main event, bland show but great visual at the end.

Saturday Night

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

So it’s 5 AM and my sleep schedule is pretty messed up.  I went to be at around 9 or 10 with my wife because I was tired and I woke up at 3:30…. Shitty deal.  So I’m eating and dividing my time between An Evening with Kevin Smith 2 on Superchannel and some episode of Smackdown on the PVR.

Chantal and I hit up the Keg for dinner on Friday and I had some amazing prime rib.  It was so fucking good.  After that we did some more Christmas shopping and I think we are done.  And I by “we” I mean her because she pretty much did it all.  However, I will be doing some last minute shopping on the day of the 24th which may be the worst thing ever.

The Christmas season is almost over thank god, I’m pretty much done with it although I think I’m in pretty good spirits considering how much working in retail makes Christmas suck.  This upcoming week could quite possibly be a gong show… Or it could be all good.  Who knows.

BBB’s Notebook - TNA iMPACT! 12/10/09

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

impact-Jesus I’m sick of the Hogan press conference footage.

-Holy fuck Nash, can you explain these a little less clearly. Terrible.

-So we’re 20 minutes in and we’re finally going to have a match.

-Scott Steiner is doing the Rick Rude/Jake Roberts angle. Its kinda sad that everything’s been done before.

-There appears to be a lot of underage girls in the crowd tonight.

-Ok, so at this point in the show, Tex came over for beers and the ladies but I think this is how the rest of the show went down. Eric Young cheated to beat Hamada, who they are making sure we know is a female. Lashley and Scott Steiner sucked. ODB and Tara drank 6 beers and then wrestled each other in a “trailer park street fight…” And AJ Styles and Desmond “don’t call me NigelWolfe had what I assume from what I saw, was a decent match. Oh yeah, and Mick Foley tracked down Jeff Jarrett and they talked but I have no idea about what. I’m sure I missed some other stuff but I’m sure it wasn’t important.

BBB’s Notebook - ROH on HDNet 12/07/09

roh-The pick 6 matches all look pretty good on paper. But no Chris Hero?

-Cornette is awesome, always has been.

-The Briscoes vs. Steen and Generico was good.

-Good to see Steve Corino.

-Ah, there is Chris Hero in the Pick Six. Apparently Cornette “forgot.”

-They really don’t need a fucking crane camera. Or boom camera or whatever you wanna call it.

-I really dig Davey Richards, he has a real Dynamite Kid/”he who shall not be named” thing going on.

-Aries/Strong/Omega/Richards was hot, but a weak finish. After everything, a powerbomb does him in?

Books Books Books

Chantal picked me up “I slept with Joey Ramone” today, it’s a book by Mickey Leigh, Joeys brother and it talks about how he grew up and the formation of the Ramones etc..

Here’s the write-up:

When the Ramones recorded their debut album in 1976, it heralded the true birth of punk rock. Fast and frenetic in their leather jackets and torn jeans, the Ramones gave voice to the disaffected youth of the seventies and eighties, influenced countless bands, and inspired the counterculture for decades to come.

Born Jeffry Hyman of Queens, New York, Joey Ramone was the quirky, extraordinary lead singer and cofounder of the band. Hiding his face behind signature sunglasses and a mop of dark hair, he helped define punk’s early image, and his two-decade-plus tenure as the Ramones’ front man made him unforgettable. Told by Joey’s brother, Mickey Leigh, I Slept with Joey Ramone provides an intimate look at the turbulent life of one of America’s greatest — and unlikeliest — music icons.

With honesty, humor, and grace, Mickey shares the fascinating, sometimes troubling story of growing up with an emotionally distressed brother who becomes a rock star and the effect it had on their family. He shows how Joey used music to cope with mental illness; embraced the glam nightlife of the New York scene; launched CBGB alongside bands like the Talking Heads and Blondie; and brought punk to Britain, clashing with the Sex Pistols and changing music history.

Ultimately, betrayal and infighting would end the band. While the music lives on for new generations to discover, I Slept with Joey Ramone is the enduring portrait of a man who struggled to find his voice and of the brother who loved him.

WWE Raw 12/07/09 (Guest Host Mark Cuban)

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

raw-Why wouldn’t Mark Cuban appear on the wrestling show on the channel he owns….

-A “Championship Showdown.” What the fuck is that supposed to be? I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

-Legacy being ejected was lame.

-Maryse plays the heel well.

-The DX/Hornswoggle segment was also lame.

-With Eve around, if something ever happens to Maria we have a spare.

-Chris Masters dancing titty makes me feel icky.

-Quite the Sheamus build-up.

-The DX/JeriShow match did a good job of building the ppv match.

-The Sheamus/Cena face off was decent for what it was supposed to be.

-Cuban did a pretty good job.

Should I?

I haven’t really written much here since I stopped writing wrestling reviews.  I think it may be time to start up again.
