Jarome Iginla is on the verge of etching himself into yet another Calgary Flames record book category.
The Calgary Flames captain has passed Al MacInnis on the all-time points list to move into second and is now closing in on Theo Fleury’s mark of 830 points.
Ironically, Iginla’s linemate for his first National Hockey League game, a playoff match between the Flames and Chicago in 1996, was none other than Fleury.
Iginla passed MacInnis, the former Flames defenceman and Hall of Fame member, on February, 17, 2009 when he tallied a goal and an assist against Vancouver.
“I’ve been blessed in my career to play 12 seasons here. It gets to be more fun as we continue to improve as a team,” said Iginla, typically deflecting away talk of personal achievements.
With Iginla set to set a franchise record in a matter of games, we’ll track his progress right here at calgaryflames.com.
