Courtney Love will guest on Idol, could “replace Paula,” source tells tabloid

Courtney Love may replace Paula Abdul as a judge on American Idol, at least according to a report in Us Weekly.

The former Hole lead singer, who has previously admitted to having a drug problem, tells the magazine that she has, in fact, been approached by the executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe. “He called. He was wondering if I was interested. I thought it was kind of weird but brilliant,” she says.

However, she doesn’t say specifically what they wanted her to actually do. Instead, Us cites “a source” and reports “that Lythgoe was considering having Love ‘replace Paula.’”

As bizarre as Paula’s behavior has been, that’s highly unlikely, especially because her behavior does nothing except increase the ratings. However, having Courtney Love serve as a guest judge for an episode—which is far, far more likely—would probably make Paula Abdul seem, comparatively speaking, completely normal.

Oh the possibilities…..

Letterman Celebrates 25 Years

DAVID LETTERMAN continues to make late-night television worth staying up for, and on Thursday, Feb. 1, the veteran TV talker celebrates a 25-year broadcasting milestone.

Letterman first appeared on stage for “Late Night with David Letterman” in 1982. Over 11 years later, he jumped over to CBS to headline “The Late Show,” now in its 14th season.

Famous for his nightly “Top Ten” countdown spoof, Letterman has hosted 4,506 broadcasts, welcomed 14,772 guests, received 14 Emmy Awards and has a whopping 89 Emmy nominations to his credit.

Joining him on the landmark show will be actor BILL MURRAY, who was also Letterman’s very first guest on both his “Late Night” and “Late Show” broadcasts.

Basketball star LeBRON JAMES of the Cleveland Cavaliers will also stop by the program.

Back in the late 80′s I used to love to try and stay up to watch Letterman with my dad and Merv. Good times…..

ECW’s Future In Jeopardy

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Vince McMahon was furious at the 1/16 ECW tapings and went nuts backstage after it was all over. He hated the show and was screaming that there wasn’t one guy in ECW who knew how to work.

McMahon was particularly upset with the main event and how bad it made Lashley look.

Vince is said to be mad all the time since that taping. Stephanie, Vince and Dave Lagana had a meeting about the future of ECW with Vince strongly hinting that ECW was on it’s last legs.

Now, as with anything written on the internet, this can be taken with a grain of salt but it seems the ECW project has been doomed for failure right from the first episode. I have tried to enjoy it as much as possible but it never really felt like it had a long term future.

Flames acquire Conroy from Kings

Craig Conroy is heading back to Calgary.

The Flames acquired Conroy from the Los Angeles Kings on Monday in exchange for Jamie Lundmark, a fourth-round draft choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and a second-round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Conroy returns to Calgary where he played in four seasons between 2001 and 2004. He was a member of the Flames’ Western Conference championship team during the 2003-04 season and captained the club during the 2002-03 campaign. In 237 regular season games with the Flames he recorded 188 points with 60 goals and 128 assists. During the 03-04 playoffs he added another 17 points including 6 goals in 26 games.

A veteran of 12 NHL seasons, Conroy has twice been a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy while accumulating 411 points in 706 career games with Montreal, St. Louis, Calgary and Los Angeles. Conroy signed as a free agent with Los Angeles on July 6, 2004. In 52 games this season he has recorded 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 points.

Originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens as their sixth round selection (123rd overall) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, Conroy was traded to St. Louis in 1996. Calgary first acquired the former U.S. Olympian with a seventh round pick from St. Louis on March 13, 2001 in exchange for Cory Stillman. Lundmark has played in 39 games with the Flames this season and has four assists and 31 penalty minutes. The Edmonton native has played in 203 career regular season NHL games with the Flames, Phoenix Coyotes and New York Rangers and has 62 points (20g, 42a) and 142 penalty minutes. He has also played in four playoff games, recording one assist and seven penalty minutes.

I was disappointed that the did not resign Conroy a couple of years ago, he was a huge part of the big run. Awesome to have him back. Some Darcy Tucker rumors floating around as well.
