For years now I have told people that the worst match I’ve ever seen was “The Genius” Lanny Poffo vs. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Unfortunatly I don’t have a date but I’m pretty sure it’s very early 90′s.

Anyway, I have changed my vote and the new worst match is the New Japan “Island Deathmatch” featuring Hiro Hase vs. Tiger Jeet Singh.

The write-up on the tape says:
New Japan counter the first Jungle Death Match with the Island Deathmatch.

Hiroshi Hase regarded as one of the best wrestlers in New Japan faces Tiger Jeet Singh, a legend of hardcore wrestling brutality. The two men ride boats an island where a ring has been set up. There are no fans, just cameramen and two wrestlers bent on destrying each other.

What I got was what felt like 2 hours of absolute shit. A chinlock held for 10 minutes, so much walking a punching I wanted to gouge out my eyes…
